While on the way to go street riding in Richmond the other day we came across this little gem of a spot. Apparently the flat bed truck has been parked there for over a year without moving and to our surprise none of the neighbors even cared that we were jumping all over it and grinding the shit out of it.

The two smiths are from George and Louis Bolter. The third pic is of Riley McMasterburgler who shut it down with his awesome aboobakah on the cab.

Riley McMaster from Vancouver has just released his second zine titled No Bummers. The photographs/images are super creative and awesome and were mainly taken from a recent road trip down in the States.

Riley is also responsible for the photo blog christianhomeowner, a really interesting site thats worth spending some browsing time on.

Inferno Jam 2010

Inferno Jam 2010! August 14th in Penticton, BC. We have a few things in the works if everything goes to plan. One idea is a winner take all game of Team Bike.

Come down to the Penticton skatepark, and chill with some local riders, as well as a few Ten Pack team members. Special Thanks to Freedom Cycle, Ten Pack Distribution, Volume, and Demolition.

Shortly before moving down to Van my girlfriend and I restored this old Raleigh ladies bike for her to use as her transport for the streets of Vancouver.
We pulled the bike out of a near by garden in Kelowna. The people who owned it were using it as a ornament and letting it rust away. It was originally green and rusty and almost every moving part was seized.
Striping it down we found that it was still in pretty good shape and definitely salvageable. After about 3 months of painting, polishing and lots of trips down to Kelowna Cycle to bug Shane and Mike for probably the cheapest bike parts that they sell, she was rolling in glory.

Zach is living out in Kelowna at the moment so will hopefully be able to keep up some coverage with the Okanagan.

We're been having a few chilled afternoon sessions out at Hastings over the past couple of weeks. Hastings is for sure one of the best parks in BC and is awesome for getting over any kind of fear you might have about hauling ass at 8 foot plus monster quarters.

With the awesome light that the west coast gets in the afternoons it's perfect for good riding shots. These photos are of George Bolter, a bro from back home in NZ who has been living in Van for the past 12 or so months.

So its been over a month now since I've last posted on this blog, my apologies to anyone who has even still been checking for updates.
Since my last post I've moved down to Vancouver. So far its been a rad time and will hopefully mean more content for this blog as well with the much larger riding scene here.

For now here are some shots from different random sessions during my last month in the sunny Okanagan. I've also invested in a couple of Pocket Wizards to trigger my flash from a tripod, definitely an essential piece of equipment for riding photos.

I've been out camping in the Kootenays for the past two weekends which has been a super awesome time. The first weekend we went out with a few friends for a chilled camping weekend in Nelson.

The second weekend was a bit more of a riding mission. We have had Aaron Gates back in town for the past week, so Myself, Andrew and Aaron organized a camping trip into the Kootnays with the intention of riding at all the sweet parks and spots along the way. We left Friday night and headed straight to Nelson for a quick night session at the indoor. The session was rad, everyone had a good ride and enjoyed watching Andrew shred the place apart, its easy to tell that he grew up riding there.
After raining all day Saturday we decided to head up to Duncan Dam to camp out and drink some cold ones on the gigantic beach for the night.
Sunday's weather started out a bit more promising but quickly turned on us. We managed to get a quick ride at Kaslo skatepark. The bowl at Kaslo has awesome hips and would make a rad summer spot as its right on the beach. The rain got real shitty so we packed up and headed back in Kelowna's direction only stopping at Castlegar to ride in between showers and for andrew to hurt his back again.

Overall, even with the rain it was still an awesome trip. the Kootenays are the beautiful and always relaxing to spend time in.

It seems like a few sweet spots have been popping up around the Okanagan lately. I would imagine anyone from Kelowna or Penticton who rides or skates will probably recognize this pool. Thanks to Slade and a few others handy work this spot is awesome and definitely the best pool I've ever ridden. Hopefully we will see a lot of good sessions going down here all summer long.

I've been wanting to put this edit up for a while now. Between 07 and 09, my girlfriend Katrina and I traveled around the world. While living in Melbourne, Australia I purchased a old super 8 camera as a Christmas present for Katrina thinking it would be a great thing to take with us in our travels as we we're heading to Europe after Australia.
The cameras are pretty easy to come by but the film is a bit of hassle to find and having developed and processed is even harder. I found a great place that is run out of Australia called Nanolab. If any one wants to know anything about super 8 cameras or film this is the place to go.
After buying four 3 minute films, living and traveling throughout Australia, Europe, NYC and coming back home to Canada then sending our films back to Australia to be developed and processed and shipped back to us, this edit is a small snippet of what we ended up with. I put in all the riding clips we got including some rails that Slade and Desson slid last year.
Super 8 doesn't capture sound, so I added in a Beirut song for your listening pleasure.

A few of us went out for some street riding on Friday afternoon to shoot some pics and check out a pool that we had heard about from a friend. The mostly empty pool is awesome, its insane that this spot hasn't been discovered earlier. After getting Desson to carve over the light in the deep end about a hundred times for a photo, we got to work bucketing out the scum water at the bottom. Some pretty fowl shit came out of the bottom of that pool, but its going to be a epic spot once its ready to ride.

CAYFORD JAMING

The 7th Annual Cayford jam happend this Easter Saturday; we started out at Winfield skate park, were the jam is traditionally held, but quickly moved on after the sky started hailing on us and after realizing, once again, that the winfield skate park is balls to ride.

Next stop was the new City of Kelowna funded dirt jump park. As always the weather pulled through, the sun came out and the riding was on! Before ever riding or seeing these jumps I had heard a huge range of opinions about the park, some positive, but unfortunately mostly negative. Now, after riding them myself my official opinion is: they're RAD! and are definitely an awesome addition to the Okanagan riding scene.
The park has five different main lines all with substantial roll in's and even a fun little pump track to keep the little ones distracted from rolling around the bigger jumps. Most people were pretty stocked on flowing through the lines with nothing crazy going down until Slinger made a late appearance. Slinger (who I've only seen riding his bike twice this year) tricked pretty much every jump he hit in every run he took, only stopping when he either crashed or made it to the end of the line. He was only there for about 20 minutes but in that time we saw whips, flips, bar spins, super man seatgrabs, no footer cans, nothings, cannonballs and all sorts of terrifying, life threatening crashes. Definitely entertaining to say the least!

After the dirt shred sesh people slowly migrated over to Benlee skatepark for some chilled riding and prize giving. The highlight for me was seeing Slade's gap to second stage ice on the kinked rail; unfortunately I missed the photo but it was wild to watch! The prizes got dolled out to riders willing to do tricks for new parts and cloths. All in all it was a fun day with a good variety of riding. Can't wait for next year!

New Zealand. Part 2.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been busy with chilling at beaches in New Zealand and hardly riding bikes. Also I've just returned to Canada and stoked to have already gone for a dry late winters ride at Penticton. Awesome.

For now here's a few more photos from New Zealand. The photo's were taken by myself and my girlfriend. The two beaches are just south of Auckland on the Coromandel Peninsula.

For the past couple of weeks I've been having a small break to the Canadian winter and chilling back in my homeland, New Zealand. Mainly I've come back to attend my brothers wedding but the timing has been great with other local B.C riders Andrew Lazaruk and Trevor Angeluci visiting at the same time.

I'm from the largest city in New Zealand, Auckland which is located about two thirds up the North Island. Auckland is a dope place to spend summer time, with a ton of beaches and a pretty decent riding scene.

I've only managed to snap of a few shots so far but will try have another post before I leave in a weeks time.

Nobikes.com Arron Gates's BMX blog that he is running out of Connecticut, USA . Nobikes has a lot of great posts ranging from local news to DVD reviews. Arron also has a new full length NoBikes DVD in the works that should be getting dropped early this year.

Zombiebmx.com This is one of the biggest websites for BMX in New Zealand. If anyone is thinking about traveling down and plans on riding their bike, I would recommend checking this site out! Local Auckland rider Mike D started the site years ago but now has a number of people contributing from all over the country.

Volucid.com Volucid is an awesome BMX clothing company run out of Auckland, New Zealand and also serves as a distribution company for Zion Bikes, a Croatian BMX company. You will always find the latest NZ news here too.

lesseradjutant.com A small t-shirt company out of BC, Canada owned by Katrina Niebergal. Lesser Adjutant has been around for a few years and have recently launched a website containing examples of her hand printed/drawn/sewn shirts, and some recent artwork.

Zack Rampen who is based out of Salmon Arm sent me a good number of his riding photos. All of his work that I have seen so far has been really good, especially his night shots in which he uses a remote flash set up. The first four pics are of Amos Frake riding in various locations around BC. Kris Le Conn also has a few in there with a carve at Grand Forks skate park, a burley rail in Salmon Arm, and a wall ride in Vernon.
